Look for Proper Documentation & Certification

Warning: There are three critical things you need to watch out for before buying Hoodia.

CITES Certification

Ensure the product has a valid CITES Certification. Because Hoodia is endangered, its exportation is strictly regulated. CITES Certifications verify that the Hoodia can be traced back to its origin, and the company you are buying from has been able to import real Hoodia. NOTE: While C.I.T.E.S certificates are important, they do not tell you how much, if any Hoodia actually made it into the finished product.

Independent Lab Certification

While a CITES is a good indication that a product is made with authentic Hoodia, a Lab Certification is necessary to validate that the same Hoodia was used to produce your product. Hoodoba® products are all independently tested by Alkemist Pharmaceuticals to verify only 100% pure Hoodia gordonii is used in our products.

USDA Import Permit

It is also important that the company you are buying from has a valid USDA import permit. This ensures they are legally able to import Hoodia into the United States.
